Over 1 in 10 people have missed their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in U.S.

An increasing number of people, over 1 in 10, have missed their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S., which is a concern as the Delta variant is gaining pace.

As of June 16, around 88% of those who received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and were eligible to receive their second dose, had completed their two dose series, revealed data obtained from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This has decreased from a 92% completion rate observed earlier this year.

Experts have cautioned that the Delta variant may soon become predominant in the U.S., and according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, this could probably be within weeks in under vaccinated areas. The CDC data suggest that the Delta variant may already be accountable for over one in five new COVID cases… (CNN, June 25, 2021)
